Precision-fabricated Vespel® polyimide parts serve as separator claws that peel up to 84 sheets of paper per minute from hot fixing rollers in high-speed office copier.

Materials Selected and Why
Vespel® polyimide parts, coated with Teflon® fluorocarbon resin for added lubricity. In this application, this combination provides the following benefits:
- No deformation on exposure to melted toner
- Low friction
- Low wear
- Precision – tips of claws are only 0.05 mm (0.002 in) thick
