Technical Literature

  • Vespel® S Product & Properties Guide
Typical properties for the Vespel® S family including mechanical, electrical and thermal. Includes chemical effects data.

  • Vespel® S Typical Properties of Vespel® Parts & Shapes
A collection of articles relating to the use of Vespel® polyimide — background on its development, its applications, demonstrations of its cost effectiveness, and details on some of its technical properties.

  • Vespel® S Technical Info Guide to Machining
Machining procedures including safety precautions, sawing, holding, turning, milling, drilling, etc., of Vespel® parts and shapes.

  • Vespel® Technical Info Shapes SP Machining Stock
Includes stock shape dimensions, properties guide and typical application usage.

  • Vespel® ST Technical Information
Technical information including typical properties of the superior toughness grades.

  • Vespel® TP Product Family
Typical properties of the thermoplastic grades. Includes high heat and wear resistence as well as chemical resistance.

  • Vespel® CR Product Family
Typical properties of chemical and creep resistant grades.

  • Vespel® CR-6100 & 6200 General Machining Guide
DuPont™ Vespel® CR chemical- and creep-resistant parts are a family of DuPont proprietary products that offers superior chemical and creep resistance, particularly at elevated temperatures. First in this family of products is a carbon fiber-reinforced fluoropolymer. Therefore, its machining characteristics are very similar to that of Teflon® products. It can be machined with standard metalworking equipment to produce tolerances once considered too close for polymer-based materials. This is possible due to the material’s inherent mechanical strength, stiffness and dimensional stability at machining temperatures.

  • Vespel® CR-6100 Pump Application and Installation Guide
A composite material consisting of carbon fibers held in a Teflon® fluorocarbon resin matrix. Vespel® CR-6100 has been installed in thousands of pumps in fluid processing facilities since 1996. It has replaced metal and other composite materials used for pump wear rings, throat bushings, and line shaft bearings resulting in superior performance.

  • Vespel® CR-6100 Pump Wear Components
An application summary of Vespel® CR-6100 wear components and how they have been successfully used in hundreds of centrifugal pumps in major refineries, chemical plants, power plants, pipeline terminals, and municipal water utilities.

  • Vespel® CP Product Family
Typical properties of the composites family.

  • Vespel® ASB Product Family
Typical properties of the assemblies family.

General Brochures & Design Guides

  • Vespel® Product Guide
Our expanded lineup consists of five families of materials that provide a unique combination of physical properties, offering you the ultimate in design flexibility. Starting as the Vespel® S line, the family has grown to include the introduction of Vespel® TP, a new innovative thermoplastic material by DuPont; Vespel® CP(composites); Vespel® CR (chemical resistant); and Vespel® ASB(assemblies). This brochure provides a comprehensive list of grades for each of the five families.

  • Vespel® Automotive
Vespel® parts have a unique combination of properties which has enabled them to be used in a wide variety of automotive applications.

  • Vespel® TP-8000 Design Handbook
This design manual contains comprehensive physical property and performance data on the TP-8000 Series resins from which corresponding Vespel® parts are made.

  • Vespel® S Design Handbook
Contains comprehensive physical property and performance data on the SP polyimide resins from which Vespel® parts are made. Includes chemistry, fabrication, and properties data. Selection of data for this manual has been based to some extent on discussion with customers’ design engineers involved with applications of Vespel® parts.

  • Vespel® Semiconductor Brochure
As an alternative to ceramics, quartz and unproven types of plastics, Vespel® parts reduce ownership costs with longer life in the chamber and extended maintenance intervals. And they often cost less right up front.

  • Vespel® Bearings Guide
The design guide is provided to help you choose the Vespel® bearing that is best suited to your application. Includes general information about bearing design; a method for determining pressure-velocity (PV) loading, and a sample bearing design problem, plus more.

  • Vespel® Technical Information — Use of Adhesives
Introduction to variety of adhesives and surface preparation information for Vespel® polyimide SP parts.

  • Using Advanced Materials To Improve Auto Part Life
Much of the progress in lengthening the service life of automobiles has relied on the use of innovative materials in new designs. Advanced technologies, such as DuPont’s Vespel® parts and shapes, help automotive designers meet the challenge of everimproving quality. Not only do parts made from these materials last longer and perform better under adverse conditions, but they have proven more cost-effective than their metal counterparts.

  • Machine Design Reprint - Polyimide Composites Challenge Metals
A variety of polyimide composite materials produce cost-effective alternatives to cast-metal parts.  Author:  Mark Schmeckpeper, DuPont Engineering Polymers

  • All Products Portfolio
Brochure summarizes the Engineering Thermoplastics resins and the Vespel® polyimide parts and shapes product offerings.
