Cleaning Vinyl Floors
Get your fabulous footing stain-free with these easy-to-follow tips for cleaning vinyl floors.
For cleaning vinyl floors:
- We recommend frequent sweeping and using clear, non-sudsy ammonia and water for cleaning vinyl floors.
For general cleaning, follow these guidelines:
- For scuff marks or scratches: Use a clean white cloth with a non-alkaline floor cleaning solution. If the marks or scratches still remain, wipe the stain with a clean white cloth dampened with lighter fluid, painter’s naphtha or isopropyl. Please use caution when applying any of these substances and follow the precautions listed on the container. Lighter fluid, painter’s naphtha and isopropyl alcohol are flammable liquids and may cause harm if misused.
- For newer stains: Promptly wipe any spills to avoid permanent staining. Use a clean white cloth and a non-alkaline floor cleaning solution or clear non-sudsy ammonia in one gallon of warm water.
- For deeper stains: Soak a white cloth or white towel in bleach solution (75% bleach to 25% water). Use the towel to cover the stained area for no more than one hour. Rinse area thoroughly with a new clean white cloth and clear water. If residue remains, wait 24 hours and repeat the procedure. Stains may or may not be removable depending on what substance caused it, and how deep and long the stain has been on your vinyl flooring.
