For the Third Year, DuPont Building Innovations Supports Dialogues on Design Seminar Series, Showcasing Its Commitment to Philadelphia, Innovation
PHILADELPHIA, PA., Oct 13-23, 2011 – DuPont Building Innovations is providing a platform for some of the most innovative and provocative voices from the world of architecture and design through its support of DesignPhiladelphia 2011’s “DuPont™ Corian® Dialogues on Design ” seminar series.
Four dialogues on design seminars will be curated by industry thought leaders from industrial design to healthcare design. Two sessions will be hosted at the DuPont™ Corian® Design Studio—Philadelphia , the creative incubator that provides a workspace for local architects and designers to connect with and think creatively about Corian® solid surface material.

• Rama Chorpash – The International and Unexpected Life of Products and By-products
Oct. 14, 6 p.m. at the Center for Architecture
Rama Chorpash will focus on the exchange between people and everyday things and how embedded in each design is an exploration of social use and the interactions they cause.
• Jaime Salm – MIO Measures: Creating Smart Design for the Planet
Oct. 17, 6 p.m. at the Center for Architecture
Jaime Salm, MIO’s Creative Director, will share his journey in building a nationally recognized design practice that defines best practices in sustainability.
• Barbara J. Huelat: Organic Insight of Healing Environments
Oct. 18, 5:30 p.m. reception, 6:15 p.m. presentation at the Marketplace Design Center
Barbara Huelat will explore healing environments that embrace nature as the teacher to solve complex issues in challenging spaces such as emergency medicine, cancer treatment and behavioral care. She will further discuss today’s design tools of color kinetic lighting, special materials, interactive video, music set to water, fractals and human relationships.
• Benjamin Pardo: Editing Design
Oct. 20, 5:30 p.m. reception, 6:15 p.m. presentation at the Marketplace Design Center, 4th floor
Benjamin Pardo will discuss the process of commissioning, selecting and developing new work for Knoll, pioneering manufacturers of modern furniture since 1938.
