John W. (Bill) Mooney is vice president, Operations Excellence Practice for DuPont Sustainable Solutions. Mr. Mooney joined DuPont in 1979 in Waynesboro, Va., as a field services engineer.
During his early career with DuPont, he served in a variety of business management, operations, supply chain, finance, and technical roles in Fibers, Petrochemicals and Specialty Chemicals businesses. In 1995, he was appointed site manager at Chambers Works in Deepwater, N.J., and served there through 1998.
In 1999, Mr. Mooney was part of the four-person team that led DuPont’s initial deployment of Six Sigma. He is a certified Six Sigma Champion.
Since 2000, Mr. Mooney has led the global Operations and Supply Chain organizations supporting DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems, DuPont Performance Materials and DuPont Agriculture & Nutrition.
In 2006 and 2007, Mr. Mooney served as the first DuPont Operations Competency Leader where he led the effort to design and deploy DuPont’s Production System. In July 2008 he was named vice president of Operations for DuPont Agriculture & Nutrition and DuPont Applied BioSciences. He was appointed vice president, Supply Chain for Pioneer Hi-Bred, Crop Protection, Nutrition & Health and Applied BioSciences in October 2009.
In December 2010 he was asked to lead a DuPont Sustainable Solutions Team that is assisting an external client with the deployment of a production system based on DuPont’s Production System. He was named to his current position in October 2011.
Mr. Mooney was born in East Orange, N.J. He holds a bachelor of science and a master of science degrees in Chemical Engineering and completed a one-year assignment, in 1992, as a Sloan Fellow at Stanford University, where he earned a master of science degree in Management.
