In São Paulo, Brazil, bullet-resistant body armor can mean the difference between life and death for police officers. Brazilian Military Police Officer Da Silva and his wife, Lucia, discuss their personal encounter with the life-saving impact of bullet-resistant vests made with DuPont™ Kevlar® brand fiber.
Officer Da Silva was shot during a robbery attempt, and Mrs. Da Silva claims, “If he hadn’t been wearing the vest, I would be a widow today.” Working collaboratively, Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos and DuPont were able to significantly lower the cost of bullet-resistant vests made with Kevlar® worn daily by police officers in Brazil.
Importantly, this increased the accessibility of bullet-resistant vests in Brazil. DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber in tactical gear and body armor is a key element in law enforcement safety.
