The Brazil Innovation Center is the first building in the country to receive DuPont™ Corian® Fire Resistant (FR) on its façade.

Earlier this month, the Brazilian press and DuPont customers were introduced to a new building façade system that is unique in Brazil and designed based on an exclusive formulation of DuPont™ Corian® Fire Resistant (FR) solid surface. Developed exclusively for building façades or external claddings, the new DuPont™ Corian® Fire Resistant system complies with the strictest safety and fire codes, yet preserves all of the brand's unique benefits and characteristics.

To demonstrate a practical application of this product, reporters were invited to view the Brazil Innovation Center, the first building with this type of façade in Brazil. The center was designed by Oliveira Cotta Architecture in partnership with DuPont™ Corian® solid surfaces fabricator, Sigmma Brazil; engineering company, AlphaMax; and Fischer Fixing Systems.

"This is a solution that meets the main requirements of the construction and façade conservation industry. Not only is it practical and efficient, it also is malleable and graffiti resistant, opening up a range of creative possibilities," said Evelyn Hentschel, marketing supervisor, DuPont Building Innovations in Latin America.

As with other Corian® brand products, external cladding of Corian® Fire Resistant (FR) is durable, stain resistant and nonporous, which makes it easy to clean (to remove graffiti, for example). In addition, external cladding of Corian® Fire Resistant (FR) can be installed quickly, is easy to maintain, and offers protection against sudden changes in temperature, salt-spray and ultraviolet rays, enabling the development of a variety of different types of façades.
