DuPont Position Statement on Toxic Release Inventory

(Note – The EPA Public Data Release is based on 2011 full-year data reported to the agency in July 2012.)

DuPont has reduced its total TRI environmental releases by nearly 60 percent since the first TRI report in 1987. This is a substantial reduction considering the TRI program has expanded significantly to include 650 chemicals and chemical categories during that time.

2011 reported emissions decreased by 12% year-over-year as production increased 1%, in addition to acquisition of former Danisco and Genencor businesses.

Reducing the company’s environmental footprint is an essential part of our strategy to achieve sustainable growth and demonstrate our commitment to our many stakeholders.   While we are pleased with the progress we’ve made reducing our environmental footprint, we remain committed to our goal of zero waste and emissions.

The significant company-wide decrease in emissions through the years can be attributed to numerous individual projects and circumstances that contributed to the overall reduction. These include process modifications at several manufacturing site and facilities, a specific focus on reducing fugitive air emissions, and continued efforts to enhance operating discipline.
