Corian® Valuing Community
Ginger Cowne, vice president of Operations/COO, YMCA Buffalo Niagara, shows off the YMCA’s new demonstration kitchen featuring Yerkes-made Corian® Private Collection countertops.

Thanks to a product donation from DuPont Building Innovations, Western New York-area YMCAs, including the new demonstration kitchen in the organization’s state-of-the-art Family Branch, are set to shine with “Made-By-Yerkes” pride!

From kitchen countertops, to lockers, showers and restroom walls, which will serve men, women, children, and families, area YMCAs will feature over 1,000 square feet of DuPont ™ Corian® Private Collection including “Hot” and new “Burled Beach” and “Clam Shell” solid surface colors.

All of the Corian® donated to the YMCA was manufactured at DuPont Yerkes in Tonawanda/Buffalo, N.Y.

“The YMCA is very excited about the generous donation from DuPont Yerkes,” said John D. Murray, president/CEO, YMCA Buffalo Niagara. “The installation of Corian® in our branches and at the new Independent Health Family Branch YMCA will enhance our facilities and complement the unique features of our new state-of-the-art building.”

Last June, Yerkes employees celebrated the production launch of Corian® Private Collection, previously made exclusively in South Korea.

“As a site that has employed generations of DuPont families, we’re very pleased to support the YMCA’s mission of serving families across Western New York,” said Warren C. Hoy, Yerkes plant manager. “It gives us great pride to know that our Corian® Private Collection product – made right here – will be enjoyed by Western New York families for decades to come.”

Corian® Private Collection features unique aesthetics including subtle veining of earth tones, warm hues and fluid patterns. In addition to its visual qualities, DuPont™ Corian® solid surface is perfect for the new YMCA as it’s easy to clean and is NSF/ANSI 51 Certified for food contact.
