DuPont China recently signed a Letter of Intent with China Electric Equipment Group (CEEG®), a leading enterprise in electronics and solar industries, and China Sunergy Co, Ltd. (Nasdaq: CSUN), a specialized solar cell and module manufacturer, for strategic collaboration in power transformers, insulation, aircraft composite materials, and photovoltaic technologies and materials over a three-year period.
“Collaborating with local partners to address the need to reduce global dependence on fossil fuels is critical to China’s sustainable development,” said DuPont Greater China President Tony Su. “This Letter of Intent will expand the strategic relationship between DuPont, CEEG® and China Sunergy with long-term benefits, not only to the parties concerned, but also to the local industry and community.”
The strategic collaboration offers long-term benefits to the three companies. Under this collaboration, China Sunergy has agreed to increase its purchase of photovoltaic materials from DuPont, including DuPont™ Solamet® photovoltaic metallizations used in solar cells to achieve higher cell efficiency and DuPont™ Tedlar® polyvinyl fluoride film-based backsheets for solar module protection. It is expected that the collaboration will help advance the development of new and improved technologies, as well as product quality. It also will increase efficiency, further drive down overall system costs and ultimately help reach grid parity faster. The strategic collaboration also will facilitate the development of new products and applications in new markets.
“CEEG® has maintained a strategic commercial relationship with DuPont for more than 15 years. China Sunergy also looks forward to a closer collaboration with DuPont," said Chairman of China Sunergy and CEEG®, Tingxiu Lu.
