Showcasing its global expertise and automotive solutions, DuPont organized a DuPont Technology Day at Ashok Leyland, the second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, at their technical center in Chennai.
The event included technical presentations and an exposition of DuPont automotive products, technologies and solutions in the areas of light-weighting, improved performance and total system cost.
In his opening remarks, Rajeev Vaidya, president – DuPont South Asia, aptly described the event theme -- “Inclusive Innovation in Action” -- as, “Inclusive innovation signifies addressing challenges and finding solutions through collaboration and working together with customers and partners. This is the start of a journey for DuPont and Ashok Leyland to deliver the automotive solutions that India needs.”
Jayendra Parikh, head of Advanced Engineering, Ashok Leyland, emphasized, “This is the right time to start collaborating with DuPont and other suppliers to find cost-effective solutions to address challenges unique to India.”
About 300 people from Ashok Leyland’s technical teams attended the event, which was a platform for dialogue with participating DuPont businesses: Performance Polymers, Performance Coatings, Protection Technologies, Chemicals & Fluoropoducts and Packaging & Industrial Polymers.
This was the second such technology event organized at a key automotive manufacturer and customer in India in the last six months. In August 2011, DuPont organized a “DuPont Innovation Day” for Tata Motors at the latter’s headquarters in Pune, India, which was attended by P.M. Telang, managing director, Tata Motors, and Diane Gulyas, president, DuPont Performance Polymers.
