DuPont recently led a technical training session at Emirates SkyCargo, an air freight services company, at the Emirates Aviation Academy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The session was a part of cool chain training, hosted by the Emirates Learning and Development Department, which aims to address the growing need for the transportation of fresh food, pharmaceuticals, horticultural products and other perishable items.
“The training allowed us to enhance our collaboration and discover opportunities among cool chain industrialists coming from different countries, including India and Africa,” said Richien Ravi, Marketing and Sales, IPP Non-Wovens and Foundation, DuPont Protection Technologies, UAE. “It also explored the possibility of developing new innovative applications with Tyvek® to meet growing industry needs.”
Time and temperature sensitive cargo protection are key challenges faced by the industry. DuPont Protection Technologies in the UAE shared DuPont™ Tyvek® Air Cargo Cover solutions to address these challenges, which were tested and approved. Tyvek® is an exceptional non-woven material which shields shipments from heat, solar radiation and helps maintain the cool temperature required for the transport of goods. It also allows oxygen to reach produce and flowers to guard against irreversible damage and extend product life.
“Tyvek® Air Cargo Covers are a valuable feature of our Cool Chain Advanced solution – an ideal protection during the journey from airport to airport,” said Claus Nickel, cargo product development manager, Emirates SkyCargo. “Compared to last year, Tyvek® usage within our network has increased by 450%, reflecting the confidence among customers across our network spanning 125 destinations.”
